With over 20 years of experience in climate calculations for sustainability reporting, we know that sustainability managers have a lot on their plates. That’s why ZeroMission offers support that’s not only technical but also strategic. Our climate consultants help guide your climate calculation process, ensuring you receive the right support and reliable results—so you can focus on taking action.
It depends on a variety of factors and varies from case to case. For example, factors such as the company’s ambitions, stakeholder requirements, legal requirements, standards, industry practices, as well as risks and transparency can all play a role.
We work with various sectors, including energy, transportation, manufacturing, and agriculture, and tailor our services to meet industry-specific needs. Whether you need to calculate the climate impact of a product, travel, purchases, or assets, we’ll help you with the data for your sustainability reporting.
Once the climate assessment is complete, you will receive an analysis of the results. This analysis also includes suggestions for improvements to future sustainability reports.
Where appropriate, we also offer an in-depth analysis workshop focused on how your organization can reduce emissions in line with a target scenario.
Our workshop concept covers areas such as the GHG Protocol, CSRD, Science-Based Targets, climate calculations, reduction opportunities, strategy, and goal-setting. Each session is tailored to your needs and provides concrete tools and knowledge that can be immediately implemented within your organization.
Whether you want to conduct a quick assessment to identify your major sources of emissions or focus on a specific part of your operations, we’ll help you achieve results for your sustainability reporting.
It depends entirely on the purpose of the climate calculation. For example, if you want to conduct a quick assessment to understand what your major emissions sources are, a general calculation may suffice.
However, these calculations make it difficult to compare year-over-year, and they quickly become irrelevant when you want to analyze how your choices over the course of a year have affected your emissions. Therefore, identify the basis for your calculation and then decide on the target level you want to aim for.
A calculation without a solid basis risks leading to no action. It is therefore important that the calculations systematically neither underestimate nor overestimate emissions but are as close to reality as possible.
It varies greatly depending on the business and sector. Below are some examples of major emission sources per sector (in no particular order).
A company's carbon footprint is a measure of the total greenhouse gas emissions that are directly and indirectly linked to its operations, expressed as carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2e). It reflects the impact a company has on the environment in terms of climate change, considering all activities from production to distribution and beyond.
Ideally, but the important thing is to focus on the largest sources of emissions and to be transparent, both in your methodology and in your external communications. It is important never to mislead, conceal, or in any way gloss over your actual emissions in your sustainability report.
