Plan Vivo Approved by the CCP: What the ICVCM Quality Seal Means for carbon offsetting

August 14, 2026

Plan Vivo has been approved as CCP-Eligible by ICVCM—the new quality seal for voluntary carbon offsetting. Following a rigorous review, the standard, which ZeroMission has been developing for over 20 years, is now CCP-verified, a designation that is expected to become increasingly important.

Plan Vivo, the standard with which ZeroMission has collaborated for over 20 years, has now been approved by the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) and can therefore label its projects with CCP, the Core Carbon Principles. This approval is the result of a comprehensive review in which Plan Vivo’s governance, transparency, and quality assurance systems underwent rigorous checks and have now been CCP-verified.

What are ICVCM and CCP?

ICVCM stands for Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market and is an independent governing body that reviews and approves standards for the voluntary carbon market ( carbon offsetting ) based on high standards.

CCP, the Core Carbon Principles, is the quality certification awarded by the ICVCM. It sets a global minimum standard for what qualifies as a high-quality carbon credit and includes requirements for, among other things, additionality, permanence, and transparency.

Plan Vivo, the standard with which ZeroMission has collaborated for over 20 years, has now been approved by the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) and can therefore label its projects with CCP, the Core Carbon Principles.

What does ICVCM mean for buyers of carbon credits?

The CCP label is well on its way to becoming the common seal of quality for carbon credits in the voluntary market for carbon offsetting. More and more frameworks and organizations are expected to rely on it when setting requirements for which credits are acceptable, including the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and ISO.

“We see that many companies will require climate projects to have this seal of quality going forward, so CCP verification is definitely a positive development,” says Maria King, Head of Sales and Carbon Offset at ZeroMission, regarding Plan Vivo’s new certification.

The approval is also expected to encourage more projects to seek certification under the latest version of the Plan Vivo standard, as market demands for traceability and quality continue to rise.
