Sweden's oldest publisher takes a holistic approach with ZeroMission's calculation platform

January 29, 2021

In 2020, Norstedts Förlagsgrupp published its climate impact in its sustainability report for the first time. The work on the climate accounts has been carried out together with ZeroMission.

The climate calculation covers all of the publishing group's publishers, known to many of the Swedish and international readers. In addition to Norstedts, the publishers Rabén & Sjögren, B. Wahlströms and Printz Publishing in the group, which is Sweden's second largest.

By starting to measure its climate impact, Norstedts Förlagsgrupp now has a basis for setting goals and for targeted initiatives. With the recurring climate calculation, the publishers get feedback on the measures, and can follow their development over time.

Olle Lidbom, Head of Communications and responsible for the work, comments:

"With a structured climate calculation, we can focus our efforts on the right measures and ensure that we as a publisher can continue to publish books with minimal climate impact."

Norstedts Förlagsgrupp has taken a holistic approach, and calculates the climate impact of both its own operations and the climate impact of publishing, both of printed books and the digital publishing of, for example, audiobooks and e-books.

"With a detailed and reliable overall picture, we now have the tools to reduce our climate footprint."
